ABOUT THE DESIGN

Antigone Project is made up of 5 different plays written by different female playwrights and all adapted from the original Ancient Greek play. The director’s vision for the play was that each of these plays was an excavation to the original ideals of the ancient play.

To accommodate all the vastly different settings of each mini play the director wanted to create one singular space that all of these plays could exist in. The idea that fit this was to create a ‘palimpsest’ theater where an archeological dig and archive is underway. Everything that is un-earthed is displayed on the shelves and has a story behind.
