ABOUT THE DESIGN

This legendary musical is a mix of multiple classic fairy tales like Jack and the beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel and more. However, doesn’t end in a “happily ever after” like they all do normally. This production was produced by Emerson’s student theater troupe, Mercutio Troupe.

The director’s vision for the show was a group of actors each year meet up at a certain spot in the woods to tell a story and this year they have come to perform Into the Woods. The director wanted to have found objects to represent props throughout the show and piles of props that actors could use as levels and places to sit. The big tree was to represent a “mother tree” a place that these actors call a second home, and want to come back every year to perform a show.
